Yelahanka Bellary Flyover Service Road

About

Gateway Corridor from Kempegowda International Airport

This proposal reimagines the underused spaces beneath the Yelahanka Flyover and the Bellary Road flyover–metro corridor in Jakkur Ward No. 6 as a civic gateway to Bengaluru for travellers arriving from Kempegowda International Airport along NH44 / Ballari Road. Rather than remaining shaded leftover infrastructure, these key approach corridors are transformed into four interconnected zones that combine recreation, culture and organised parking, with EV charging, delivery bays and shoulder parking for highway travellers. Bamboo seating, community gathering spaces, children’s play areas, green parks, open lawns, outdoor gyms, courts and shaded seating turn the underside of the flyovers into an everyday commons that local residents and visitors experience as their first public spaces on entering the city. Craft stalls, artisan markets, refreshment stalls, hawker zones, public art on pillars and safe night rest stops for truckers support livelihoods and self-help groups, while bamboo plantations, native tree-lined walkways, continuous footpaths, crossings, ramps, tactile paths, drinking water, sanitation, dustbins, CCTV and artistic night lighting together create a safe, green and welcoming gateway corridor.
